Dr. Elysa Marco
Dr. Elysa Marco is a board-certified pediatric neurologist with additional fellowship training in cognition, behavior and neurogenetics. She completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology, at the University of Pennsylvania then attended medical school, residency, and fellowship at University of California San Francisco (UCSF).
Dr. Marco combines direct patient care with highly collaborative research. Dr. Marco’s sensory research, in partnership with Pratik Mukherjee, investigates the neural networks of sensory over responsivity and emotional regulation; her genetics work with Elliott Sherr has sought to understand the genetic contribution of new and inherited gene variants to neurodevelopmental conditions; her functional imaging magnetoencephalography work with Srikantan Nagaran has focused on timing the brain activity that differentiate children with and without sensory processing and autism related disorders; and her braining training work with Joaquin Anguera and Adam Gazzaley seeks to determine whether structured play with engaging “video games” can lead to better attention and measurable brain change. Most recently at Cortica Healthcare, Dr. Marco, continues to co-lead multiple clinical medical and device trials, including recently published work on Cranial Electric Stimulation with Dr. Shapiro.
